3D CAD part and assembly import

We can convert and import from all major CAD programs with no tweaking or data fix-up required.

Autodesk Inventor

We can import the top-level .iam assembly file, or better yet, import from a DWF-3D file.

Solid Edge

We can import the top-level .asm assembly file or a STEP AP214 file. If using STEP, the “AP214” option must be chosen on the Solid Edge STEP exporter options panel.

ProE/Creo

We can import the top-level .asm assembly file. Alternatively we can import from a top-level Neutral .neu.asm assembly file, or a STEP AP214 file.

SolidWorks

We can import the native Solidworks top-level .sldasm file or a “BREP Manifold Solids IGES” file which has been exported from SolidWorks.

AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks

For AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks, we import from a DWF-3D file. DWF-3D is one of the very best file formats for data translation.

Rhino

We import from a native .3dm file.

UG NX

UG NX conversions are always best done with a STEP AP214 file or alternatively a JT file.

Catia

We can import a BREP Solids IGES file.

Interactive website viewer – including 360 degree spins

State of the art 360° product viewer for your 3D visualisations or 360° product spins. Create interactive 3D CAD and 360 degree product photography for your website. It’s time to modernise your marketing.

Advanced capabilities

From importing real world geo data to advanced fluid simulations to user interactivity – we thrive on new technical challenges.

Motion capture

Complex 3D character animation using motion capture data (Mocap) drawn from our extensive motion library and manual keyframing for bespoke motion.

Environments

Outdoor environments require substantial detailed texturing and sculpting to provide a realistic look.

Photo realism

Depending on the level of photo realism required, we can apply brushed metal finishes, signs of wear, scratches, oil splotches, metal flecks and finger prints to textures.

Machine rigging

Many machines such as the boom, stick and bucket on an excavator require rigging. We set up a layer hierarchy with a set of constraints and controllers so that we can animate the machine quickly during the production process.

Crowd simulations

Crowds that walk, run, navigate slopes, ride escalators, tackle moving walkways and climb stairs realistically.

Process visualisation

Technical and engineering animation direct from your 3D CAD assemblies.

3D modelling

Modelling of components, assemblies and real world elements from scratch to help tell your story.

2D drafting

Familiar with reading technical drawings to check component dimensions and assembly. Dimensioning in 2D to bring into the 3D environment.

3D characters

Characters, their props and clothing are created in a T-pose. We apply bones and muscle weighting during the rigging phase to create a natural motion. Finally, we create and apply textures.

Materials and lighting

We create materials for each component and light them virtually using custom built HDR images and/or lights taking care with the placement of highlights and reflections. We can apply brushed metal finishes, signs of wear, scratches, oil splotches, metal flecks and finger prints to the textures.

Fluids simulations

Particles, fluids, and gaseous simulations. Ideal for water, rain, oil, dust and contaminant flows.

Animated oceans, lakes and rivers that look real.

Geo data import

Digital elevation models and city layouts using real world data. Highly detailed 3D landscapes and real world terrain created using satellite imagery. Waterways and road maps laid precisely over the terrain.

Using 3D for product animation offers substantial benefits with almost unlimited flexibility.

All our 3D product animation steps use cutting edge technology to create your product visualisation as fully realistic renders or in a graphic style.

  • Zoom into and provide crisp views of intricate parts.
  • Demonstrate the inner workings of a product.
  • Use exploded views, section cuts and x-ray views to reveal assembly details and functionality.
  • Explore material and colour variations, finishes and fabrics.
  • Products can be placed in any type of environment or isolated on a neutral background.
  • Create completely virtual photographic studios for product shots.
  • Demonstrate and quantify temperature and pressure variations, fluid velocities and contaminent flows.
  • Help make early decisions in the design process.
  • Freedom to work with the most expensive materials.

As this was our first venture into 3D animation videos on behalf of a client, we welcomed the professional guidance and support that Simon provided throughout the project. As a result both ourselves and our client were delighted with the finished product which was completed on the date promised even although we asked for a few changes along the way. We will have no hesitation in working with Kinesomania on any future projects.
